Ajmer Sharif: The Heart of Sufism
Ajmer for the tomb involving Muinnudin Chisti is legendary. Hazrat Khwaja Muinuddin Chishti’s Dargah Shariff is indeed an ornament to the town of Ajmer. It is one of India’s holiest places of worship not only for Muslims but also for people of other faiths who hold high esteem and reverence to the saint. Ajmer is the birthplace of the great Sufi Saint Khwaja Moinuddin Chisti, who is respected by Muslims and Hindus alike, and popularly known as Ajmer Sharif. The famous Dargah Sharif grave erected in honor of the great saint is visited by thousands of devotees.
Soniji ki Nasiyan
Soniji ki nasiyan is also called the Red Temple, and is a Jain Temple. The main chamber, known as the Swarna Nagri or The City of Gold, has several wooden figures plated in gold which is a major attraction. It also displays continents and oceans, peacocks, elephant gondolas, gold, silver, and precious stones deck the walls.
Taragarh Fort
It is the town’s most impressive structures. The Fort has three gates, known as Lakshmi Pol, Phuta Darwaza and Gagudi ki Phatak. Taragarh Fort had a reputation for its tunnels crossing the entire hillside.
Prithviraj Smarak: A memorial to the great hero of the Rajput Chauhan dynasty, Prithviraj Chauhan. Located on Ajmer’s Taragarh Road, the memorial has a black stone statue of the King, mounted on a horse. With a bow and arrow in his hand, Prithviraj Chauhan is shown.
Nareli Jain Temple
It is a beautiful temple situated at Ajmer’s outskirts. Constructed on a hill above, the architectural style is a mix of traditional and contemporary with 24 smaller temples.

Ana Sagar Lake

Akbar’s Palace and Museum

Adhai Din ka Jhopra
This mosque was built by Qutb-ud-din-Aibak, the first Sultan of Delhi. It was designed in two days and a half, hence the name Adhai Din ka Jhopra. This replica is also thought to have been constructed with the remains of the Hindu and Jain Temples. With most of its parts being in ruins, it still acts as a place of worship.
Abdulla Khan’s Tomb
The tomb of Abdullah Khan, an imposing building made out of white marble, is a great attraction at Ajmer. The four towers which surround the tomb are remarkable for their excellence in architecture. Another attraction at the grave is Abdullah Khan’s wife’s crypt, which lies just across the platform.

Pushkar is also known as the Hippie Paradise and the home of the only Brahma temple in Ajmer. It has plenty of temples. It is considered the sacred town and non-veg consumption is prohibited in the town. You may also visit Gurudwara, Shri Sawai Bhoj Temple, Gautam Maharishi Temple, Paap Mochani Gayatri, Savitri Temple, Rangji Temple (New and Old) or Shri Vaikunthnathji Temple. The whole town is built around a dam. There are roughly 52 bathing ghats next to the lakes. Hindus use such ghats as a form of religious bathing or cleansing rituals. Pushkar’s Waters are considered sacred. It is renowned for its annual fair featuring cattle, horses and camels trading feasts.
Pushkar Lake: Pushkar’s main attraction is the considered holy Pushkar Lake. Because of this holy lake Pushkar has become a place of Hindu pilgrimage. If you have or don’t have a sweet tooth you should eat Malpua.
