1. Garbage Bags
Garbage bags may not seem like a road trip essential, but they are useful for a lot of different occasions. You can use them for general garbage cleanup, bring them along a hiking trail to pick up trash on the path, or even store wet clothes.
Pack more than a few, and bonus if they are reusable and eco-friendly like these ones!
2. Headache Medication
Sitting in the car for long periods of time can take a toll. Ibuprofen, Advil, or other similar headache medication can be a great addition to any packing list because this over-the-counter product not only can relieve headaches but reduce fevers too.
3. Headphones
Headphones are excellent road trip essentials for those times you need to have a little bit of space to yourself.
4. Little Bluetooth Speakers
Bluetooth Speakers are helpful in case you reach certain areas with poor reception, but still want to listen to music.
5. Flashlight
Please don’t look at your mobile smart light app as a substitute! Get yourself a high-power flashlight fitted with a new set of batteries.
6. Maps / GPS / Navigation
always bring some form of navigation, whether that’s a paper map, GPS, or smartphone. Most days, we rely on our smartphone and use the apps Google Maps and Maps.Me. It’s also essential to make sure you have a way to charge your phone if it dies. Otherwise, you could end up lost with no directions. In more remote destinations, it’s best to have a paper map as an alternative.
7. Reusable Utensils
Plastic utensils are not only terrible for the environment, but they are terrible for you too! Reusable utensils would cut back on plastic consumption and strive to become more eco-friendly.
On top of that, most disposable silverware contain BPA, a chemical that is terrible for your health. The first step towards more sustainable lifestyles and travel is with reusable utensils.
Your road trip list of things to bring is the key to a successful trip. Being prepared means being able to handle any number of situations without them getting in the way of your road trip travel plans.
