It turns out that foot smell doesn’t really come from the feet. The smell comes from the bacteria that live on your feet and in the dirty socks and shoes that cover them. Those bacteria get rid of waste just like people do. And it’s the waste that smells so rotten. When feet sweat a lot, they can play host to some extra-stinky bacteria.
1. Wear socks, always!
If you skip the socks while wearing shoes then this can be a big reason for the bad odour. Be it the bare-ankle shoe trend of casual sneakers, not wearing socks can expose your skin to bacteria and moisture. So make sure you never skip the humble socks.
2. Get rid of dead skin
Have you been postponing the pedicure forever? Dry and dead skin can breed bacteria when damp. So, make sure you use a foot file once a week to get rid of hard skin and keep your feet healthy and clean.
3. Try foot soak
If you feel your feet are smelly than usual, you must indulge in foot soak once a while. Try apple cider vinegar soak, which helps to kill the bacteria on the feet. Soak in for 10-15 minutes once a week to get rid of smelly feet.
4. Clean your feet
Once you get home, make sure you wash your feet. And in the morning, after taking a bath, dry them. Moist areas are prone to bacteria, so make sure you dry your feet well and between the toes too!
5. Use disinfectant
Spray a general household disinfectant in your shoes and on the insoles and then let them dry. It might also help to let them dry in the sun.
