Coke is consumed by millions of people around the world on a daily basis. However, did you know that the beverage has other uses as well? Keep reading to find out some of the more unusual ways the soft drink can be used. Remember, though, that you are advised to conduct your own research before trying these at home.
1. Removes Rust from Metal
If you have any hardware items around the house that are rusty, try submerging them in a small bowl of Coke and leaving for 24 hours, or longer if needed. Once the items are done soaking, remove them and scrub with a nonmetal scrubbing pad. Rinse throughly and allow to dry. This can take a few days to work, but it is still effective!
2. Clean Your Windows
Has it been a while since you’ve cleaned your windows? Mainly because it’s hard to find a really good window cleaner that leaves windows clear and streak free!
Since Coca-Cola contains citric acid, it’s a great alternative to those lemon cleaning products. You can pour the soda into a spray bottle and wipe with a clean rag or cloth. Finish off by wiping down with warm water so your windows aren’t left sticky. You can also use this method when cleaning mirrors!
3. Remove Marker Stains on Carpet
This is a problem that’s especially common if you have little kids around the house and they like to color on the floor! Try pouring a little Coke on the marker stain and scrub with a rag or toothbrush.
Make sure to finish off by cleaning with soapy water. This works best on carpet that’s darker in color.
4. Clean your Glasses
If you have glasses that are looking pretty smudgy and dirty, try wiping them down with a rag dipped in Coca-Cola.
Be sure to rinse them immediately under water and dry with a clean towel. Nothing better than clear, clean glasses!
5. Adds texture to hair
According to Seventeen magazine, people with limp hair can use flat soda to add some volume and natural curls. Just pour the drink on your hair and rinse with water. Repeat as required or needed.
6. Chewing gum remover
In case you wind up with chewing gum in your hair, no need to get an unwanted haircut. Pour some Coke on it and let it sit for few minutes. The gum will come off easily.
7. Car battery cleaner
The acidic nature of the drink can also help clean corroded car battery terminals. Pour on the affected areas, wait for the bubbling to subside and then use a wire brush to clean up the muck.
Coke also kills mice, just put it in a bowl and set it out where you have mice. The mice love Coke, drink it, and unable to expel the gas, die. If you know any other unusual use of this beverage, please comment down below to tell us about it.
